Day 15 of an album a day takes us back 40 years from yesterday with The Allman Brothers reissue of their first two albums from 1969 and 1970. The liner notes on this 1973 release gave many fans their first coherent view of the band’s history. The cover is a picture taken of one of their live performances at the Fillmore East.

Aside from those Wikipedia notes, this is one kick ass blues rock album. No wonder they became legendary. These early songs sound a lot like Cream or Status Quo. Not to sound like a crusty old timer, but they really don’t make a lot of music like this anymore. It’s good to just sit and listen to the talent. Love it!

Note: It appears the "Beginnings" release is not available on YouTube Music so the listen link will take you to their first album. Its all worth a listen.
