Day 31: An Album A Day - Aerosmith Get Your Wings

Artist: Aerosmith
Album: Get Your Wings
Released: 1974
Genre: Classic Rock
Day 31 of an album a day. Today we listened to Aerosmith’s second album, Get Your Wings, released in 1974. Steven Perry mentioned in the Aerosmtih biography “Walk This Way,” that this album was released with no fanfare at all so they had to go out and tour the shit outta America. Aerosmith is not well known at this stage of their career but the song writing and musicianship is top drawer stuff. They could only be ignored by the music gatekeepers so long.We really enjoyed this album even beyond the more known tracks like “Same Old Song and Dance” and the remake of Tiny Bradshaw’s 1951 Jazz Classic “Train Kept A-Rollin.” I never gave this album much attention previously, but it was a great listen from start to finish. Like AC/DC, I like the 1970s version of Aerosmith much better than what came later, even though they wrote some great stuff in the 80s.
